In an effort to boost food processing sector, Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, has announced setting up of a special fund to provide credit at affordable rates.
In a debate on General Budget in Lok Sabha on 18th July 2014, Finance Minister said that a fund with corpus of INR 2000 crore will be set up to provide affordable credit to the food processing centres. Mr. Jaitley on a debate recommended that the fund of INR 2000 crore would be credited in National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for the benefit of agro-processing units.
While pointing to early trends of reversal of the poor economic trends, Jaitley repeatedly underlined the need for a faster pace of growth and said his maiden Budget will provide a boost.@ Source – TOI & The Hindu
