The RF flexible impeller pump can pump fluids of both low and high viscosity. Due to its design, this positive displacement pump has a high suction capacity, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of applications.
How does it work? The pump operates by means of an eccentric housing containing a rubber impeller. This impeller is designed to fit the internal geometry of the pump casing. As it rotates, the flexible blades of the impeller expand as they pass through the widest part of the casing, causing an increase in volume that creates a vacuum and facilitates the suction of liquid into the pump. As they continue their journey towards the narrowest section, these blades are progressively compressed, reducing the volume between them and forcing the fluid towards the pump outlet.
One of the key advantages of this type of pump is its ability to instantly switch the flow direction without any loss of efficiency by reversing the direction of rotation of the motor. This is particularly useful in operations such as product return or pipeline draining, enhancing overall operational flexibility.
