To undertake Dairy development in the less developed areas of Maharashtra like developed areas of Vidarbha and Marathwada, and to provide livelihood to small farmers, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has signed MoUs with the Maharashtra state government. An MoU was also signed under which land in Gowe-Bhiwandi in Thane district would be leased by the state government to Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable Ltd (MDFVL) to set up a 5 lakh litres processing plant.

Under the agreement NDDB would be focusing on increasing production by providing technical inputs which will include artificial insemination, advise on nutrition and ration balancing.

Further, NDDB’s subsidiary NDDB Dairy Services would be organizing milk producers into new generation cooperatives, that is, producer company. The milk collected from these farmers will be processed at Nagpur Dairy, which then will be refurbished and managed by MDFVL.
